Hair Secrets for Younger Look

In the battle against the passing years, looks count for a lot -- and how you wear your hair can have a major impact on your apparent age. Top hair stylist Kevin Moss warns that the one-length cut youths find so popular "can make the face look rather severe" as the years roll on.

Moss, of the John Frieda beauty salons, recommends a bit of softening to relax your style. "By having some softening layers added throughout or razoring the length within the basic bob shape," he says, "your look will immediately be 'looser' and more youthful for a sexier, more feminine shape."

If your hair has become thick, rough, or dry textured and harder to control, he says, it is a good idea to stop trying to blow-dry it straight, which tends to make the hair puffy and unfashionably "round." Better to invest in a pair of heated straighteners.

Don't go in for heavily styled hair, because it "will add years to your looks." Rather, apply a good styling product to dampen hair for volume and hold, "then ruffle your hair with your fingers while drying to leave it looking soft and natural."
