Natural, Effective Hair Treatments

It really is true that a woman's crowning glory is her hair. But there's no need to spend a fortune, especially on chemical-packed products, to have shiny, healthy locks. In fact, you can create these all-natural hair treatments right in your own home. Here are some of my favorites:

Superconditioning Hair Pack
It's best if you can apply this or a similar treatment to your hair at least once a week. I get all the ingredients for this hair pack in my kitchen:
Mix together one half cup of mayonnaise
One half of a mashed ripe avocado
Two teaspoons of lemon juice.
Rinse your hair with warm water then apply the hair pack. Cover your hair with a plastic bag or old shower cap, and leave on for fifteen minutes. Shampoo out.

Aromatic Hair Shiner
In a small pot, heat one-quarter cup of almond oil until it's comfortably warm
Mix in five drops each of chamomile, lavender, and patchouli essential oils.
Once the mixture has cooled to a comfortable temperature, apply it to your clean, damp hair. After fifteen minutes, shampoo until you get a good, vigorous lather going, then rinse.

Custom-Made Hair Rinse
Add three drops of jojoba oil to your favorite botanical shampoo, then choose the rinse that suits your hair's needs.
Cider vinegar is good for proper PH balance
Egg yoke for body
Coconut oil for shine
After applying the rinse, shampoo again and repeat the rinse.

Dry and Brittle Hair Remedy Apply mayonnaise to either wet or dry hair for thirty minutes Shampoo it out. Repeat the procedure no more than once a week. Dandruff Destroyer Dandruff is characterized by an excessive sloughing of the scalp's skin cells and is often caused by stress, dietary imbalances, and overuse of commercial shampoos. The most effective and easiest remedy is to massage your scalp with vegetable oil before shampooing. The oil will help soften and loosen dandruff flakes. Wash out with an organic, botanical shampoo, and follow with a rinse of apple cider vinegar diluted with warm water. Robin Westen is ThirdAges medical reporter. Check for her daily updates.
