Answers
When you find yourself coughing after you lay down you may have allergies or acid reflux. Both ailments can became inflamed when you’re laying and cause mucus to rise into your chest or throat. The allergies may be to the material you’re lying on, you may want to try changing them and any cleaning solutions. Another way to avoid this is to use several pillows to keep your head raised above shoulder level. This will keep your sinuses and lungs open and decrease acid reflux episodes. You can also take antihistamine or decongestant before bed for allergy issues or acid reflux medications.
Coughs generally do worsen when you lay down. If it persists, go to your doctor and tell them you have a persistent cough.
