Can I drink alcohol while taking Paxil and Abilify?
Maybe 3 drinks
Answers
Fuck yea.
I wouldn't recommend it. And by 3 drinks do you mean in one night-then defiantly not. Here's why alcohol is a depressant so it will start to counteract the drug effects!
It's not recommended that you drink alcohol while you're on those meds. A handful of drinks - like 3 or less- from time to time aren't harmful, but still not recommended.
Call and ask the Pharmacist and if you cannot ask why. I had a friend die from mixing pills and alcohol.
The reason you are not supposed to have any alcohol is because so many mental patients have alcohol and drug addictions, so it's assumed that ALL of us do. I was told a drink of wine with dinner is fine, as my 60 year old university psychiatrist rolled his eyes at all the hysteria over mental patients having alcohol. I think 3 drinks is too much - abilify is a major tranquilizer and going to interact with all that booze, imo. HOWEVER when I was told it was ok, I was on risperdal and cymbalta, similar, but not the same, drugs.
Ever heard of "Never mix drugs and medicine together"????
