Do i have bipolar or something similar?
I think i might have bipolar but in all the articals i have read it says that the the episode of either mania or depression is supposed to last weeks or months but mine lasts alot less. On average, within a week i will experience at least 2 episodes of mania and 2 of depression. Sometimes more... At first i thought it may have just been hormones or pubity (im almost 15) but its been happening for over a year now. When i have a depressive episode i feel like i have nothing to live for and no one cares. I feel lonley and i dont feel like doing anything except being alone but then two days later i can feel so happy like jumping around and not being able to stop smiling and feeling like im flying and that nothing could bring me down but that usually doesnt last long and then im back to being sad again. When i get sad sometimes i cut myself and have thoughts of suicide. Can anyone help!? Is this depression or bipolar or what!? Will it just go away if i leave it!? PLEASE IM DESPERATE!?!?
Sounds like being a teenager to me. Ask anyone and you'll find that no-one over the age of 25 would be a teenager again.
Don't be too keen to wish an illness on yourself.
Nobody can diagnose you on here. Sounds like hormones but I could be wrong. Go to your doctor if your worried
Considering your up and down mood changes it sounds like depression, i suggest getting antidepressants so the mood swings aren't as constant and please, please stop hurting yourself life can be hard but its still worth living and talk to your mom or dad about how you feel so they can help you get help, so you'll stop hurting yourself.
I wish I could help more but all I can say is DO NOT trust anyone who tries to pass it off as a teenage thing because it often isn't the best thing you can do is go to a professional now before it escalates into something bigger. Just because you are only 15 doesn't mean you don't have a problem my problems started when I was 12, I am now 20 years old and worse then ever demand the help you need. My biggest regret is not demanding the help I needed when I was young because it is so hard to do now that I am older.
I have no idea about if it is or is not bipolar but in the disorder people can experience highs and lows more frequently than once every few weeks or months. If you go to a shrink and did get diagnosed as bipolar they may put you as Bipolar NOS or a rapid cycler of sorts. People can also cycle a number of times per day - Ultraradian
I am bipolar myself, but am heavily medicated for it. But from what I remember, you have bipolar, but I can't give you a diagnosis. Go to a mental health professional if it interferes with your life greatly.
I noticed my bipolar symptoms started to show more heavily when I was your age, but mine was more manic.
You should DEFINITELY seek help if you start to become mean like I did. You feel viscous and cruel, you should talk to a shrink. It may feel good at the time, like you're on top of the world, but it always ends in pain for everybody.
