high blood pressure, 16 year old male, what is this a sign of?please no answers calling me stupid, really don't need it... but anyway, I went to the drug store and tested my blood pressure about 5 times now and every time I have my "systolic pressure" I think it's called ... is usually at about 140-150... should I be concerned?
High blood pressure is a very serious matter. It can lead to multiple life threatening illnesses. Here are some things you can do that can help:Drink plenty of waterAvoid sodasTry to limit the amount of salt you put in your bodyEat a balanced dietExerciseYour doctor can also tell you other ways you can help to bring those numbers down. I would highly recommend you going to see him soon and to tell him about it.
Stage 1?Yea, If I were you, I'd be self conscious of what I eat. Try exercising regularly. It lowers blood pressure over time.
Change your diet and your lifestyle. That doesn't mean change what you enjoy to eat, just do it in moderation. As a 26 year old Male with Heart problems, trust me, you will be fine.
Don't use blood pressure gauges in supermarkets or pharmacies; they're rarely well maintained. Check your blood pressure at the Doctor's office.Control your hypertension, if any, by diet and exercise.Adopt DASH diet (The Mediterranean diet). Eat a low-cholesterol, low-fat diet, which includes cottage cheese, fat-free milk, fish, vegetables, poultry, and egg whites. Use monounsaturated oils such as olive, peanut, and canola oils or polyunsaturated oils such as corn, safflower, soy, sunflower, cottonseed, and soybean oils. Avoid foods with excess fat in them such as meat (especially liver and fatty meat), egg yolks, whole milk, cream, butter, shortening, pastries, cakes, cookies, gravy, peanut butter, chocolate, olives, potato chips, coconut, cheese (other than cottage cheese), coconut oil, palm oil, and fried foods.
You're not stupid. Those machines that are placed in public places are set to show a higher reading than what is normal. This is to scare people into paying out money needlessly to see a doctor. You asked questions before you shelled out money to see a doctor. That definitely does not make you stupid.
