Go for Nuts
Cashews, almonds, and hazelnuts are not only rich in protein, but they also contain magnesium, a mineral that plays a vital role in converting sugar into energy. Research suggests magnesium deficiency can drain your energy. Magnesium is also found in whole grains, particularly bran cereals, and in some types of fish. -
Enjoy Sunshine
Fifteen minutes in the sun will boost your energy-giving vitamin D levels. This vitamin, along with vitamin B, is responsible for fighting fatigue. People with deficiencies often experience tiredness, moodiness, aches, and stress. -
Eat Several Meals a Day
Spacing out small meals will not only help regulate your blood sugar, but also help increase your energy throughout the day. While you’re at it avoid processed, fatty foods, sweets, or foods with refined white carbohydrates. These foods may make you feel energized at first, but you’ll be sluggish shortly after. -
Avoid Too Much Caffeine
Really? Yes. If you drink a lot of caffeine, your body’s response to it will change. You might get a headache, feel irritable, suffer with dehydration and experience a host of other downers that come with caffeine overload. -
Stay Calm
It’s a vicious circle: When you’re tired, it’s all too easy to get irritable and moody, which in turn drains even more energy. If you’re feeling your ire rise, it’s time to take a quick catnap or at least remove yourself from the situation. -
Take Lots of Deep Breaths
Ongoing research has shown that proper breathing can help eliminate chronic fatigue, as well as high blood pressure, stress, and other ailments. Deep breathing raises levels of oxygen in our blood, which in turn energizes us. Just ten deep breaths in a row will get you going.
