Autism is scientifically classified under pervasive developmental disorders" (PDD) or autistic spectrum disorders (ASD). The CDS (US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) 1 in 166 children is born with autism. Males outnumber females at a ratio of 4 to 1.

What is Autism

Other conditions that are part of this spectrum include Asperger Syndrome and pervasive developmental disorder. In the US, autism spectrum disorders affect about 1 in 100 children aged 3-17 years old. People with autism have difficulty communicating and forming relationships.
