Could Arthritis Affect the Bottoms of My Feet?
Question: The bottoms of both of my feet hurt so much I can hardly walk. I am scheduled for tests late this month, but in the meantime, is there a possibility that this could be arthritis? I am on Anaprox DS, and have tried several other medications with no relief.
Answer: I doubt that this is arthritis, since it doesn't usually affect the bottoms of the feet. One possibility is a ganglion cyst, although I doubt that you would have one on both feet at the same time. This could also be an inflammation of the soft tissue of the foot. I have found acupunture to be an effective treatment for this, as is placing a support within each shoe. These supports can be purchased at a drugstore or a foot doctor's office.
You are doing the right thing by having your condition diagnosed. In the meantime, you can certainly take some Advil or another nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug to help diminish the pain.
