Treating Polymyalgia Rheumatica
Question: I have polymyalgia rheumatica and there doesn't seem to be much said about it. All the information I read is about rheumatoid arthritis or fibromyalgia. In reading suggestions on treatment for these two, am I to assume that it applies to PMR as well?
Answer: Rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia are different than polymyalgia rheumatica. However, all three are slightly related and have similar treatment guidelines.
One of my patients basically healed himself by changing to an alkaline diet and meditating every morning. In fact, he told me that he still spends a great deal of time in meditation and prayer every day, and this is what has helped him the most. You may find that mind/body exercises will bring you relief as well.
