Coping with Knee Pain
Question: I have chronic knee problems. A knee brace helps, but my doctor wants to put me in a medial unloader that looks like a brace for someone who can't walk. What other options are there? I'm fairly active (walking, biking, tae kwondo) and need to remain flexible.
Answer: I have found that the homeopathic ointment called Traumeel®, applied to the knee before going to bed at night, helps to minimize pain. I suggest you try this for six weeks to see if it helps. You could also try acupuncture, which has proven effective in these kinds of cases. Finally, make sure that you keep your knee as mobile and flexible as possible, perhaps by taking a yoga class.
