How Your Diet Affects Arthritis
Question: What type of foods bring on arthritis, and what vitamins or minerals will help with prevention?
Answer: Believe it or not, I have found that eating red meat, chicken and turkey can bring on arthritis. If individuals with arthritis are still eating red meat, they are numb to its effects. However, when they reduce these acidic components of their diet, they start feeling better. If they backslide and again add meat to their diet, they immediately notice an increase in pain. If you have arthritis, you should eat as close to a vegetarian diet as possible with the exception of eating some fish, such as salmon, mackerel, tuna or sardines. Fish is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are very good for your joints.
There aren't really any vitamins or minerals that can prevent arthritis. You can, however, take them to maintain your optimal health and energy, which will keep you mobile -- which will in turn decrease your likelihood of developing arthritis.
