Hard Abs

Most guys say they want to avoid love handles at all costs. But it's a fact: Weight starts settling around the middle as you age. Those 40+ guys you see with the rock-hard stomachs aren't just lucky--they've worked at it! Make a few lifestyle changes and put in the time each day to develop those washboard abs.

Action Rx:
To develop hard abs:

  • Reduce beer intake.
  • Reduce fat intake.
  • Maintain a healthy weight.
  • Do sets of sit-ups, stomach crunches, and back exercises every day.
(Here's a great exercise for building power abs: Assume the standard pushup position, but place one arm 12 inches ahead of the other arm. Stick your butt in the air, then lower it. Do sets of 20.)
  • Do yoga (which helps build stronger abs).
