Shrimp and Red Pepper Siu Mai Dumplings

In this video, chef Giada de Laurentiis shows you how to make a classic Chinese appetizer: Siu Mai dumplings.

Stir shrimp, chives, ginger and a host of colorful vegetablesred peppers, carrots and peaswith a blend of egg white and sesame oil. After wrapping the mixture in egg roll wrappers, steam the dumplings until the shrimp are pink.

Serve with a low sodium spicy soy sauce and honey dip.

Ingredients

Dumplings:

1 egg white
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon arrowroot
1/2 red bell pepper, cored, seeded and diced into 1/4-inch pieces
1 medium carrot, peeled and diced into 1/4-inch pieces
1/4 cup frozen petite peas, thawed
1/4 cup chopped chives
1 (1-inch) piece fresh ginger, peeled and minced
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 pound large shrimp, peeled, deveined and cut into 1/4-inch pieces
4 egg roll wrappers
Vegetable oil cooking spray

Dipping sauce:

1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons honey
3/4 teaspoon hot sauce (recommended: Sriracha)
1 garlic clove, minced
