The cold weather is now upon us and we all get comfort from hot, stodgy foods that fill us up and make us feel content.
But beware: These foods can be laden with unhealthy fats and salt and too much of these can increase our risk of developing heart disease.
Each year, more than 70,000 heart attacks and strokes are directly linked with high blood pressure caused by eating too much salt.
For adults, the recommended salt intake is under 6 grams a day.
Stocks, stock cubes and convenience foods are often high in salt -- for example, a bought chicken curry can contain five times more salt than a home-made one.
