Regular Sex can Decrease Heart Disease Risks in Men

Men who have sex at least twice a week can almost halve their risk of heart disease, say doctors.

A study says blokes who enjoy regular sex are up to 45 percent less likely to develop life-threatening heart conditions than men who have sex once a month or less.

The U.S. researchers behind the findings say doctors should ask men about their sex lives when trying to work out if they are at risk of heart disease.

Heart disease is Britain's biggest killer and around 270,000 people per year in the U.K. suffer heart attacks.

Doctors have believed for years that sex is good for us, but there has been little scientific evidence until now.

Scientists at the New England Research Institute tracked the sexual activity of 1000 men aged between 40 and 70 over 16 years. They believe sexually active men are probably healthier to begin with, but also that the physical and emotional benefits of sex can protect men from illness.
