Joining ThirdAge

1. How do I join ThirdAge.com?
It's quick, easy, and free to join ThirdAge.com. Fill out the registration form at http://www.thirdage.com/join/.

2. What are the advantages of being a member?
Members are able to access all of the ThirdAge community areas such as Chat and Discussions (message boards). You will also receive a free HomePage and a free e-mail address. We occasionally have contests and giveaways that are open only to ThirdAge members.

3. Why was my registration form rejected?
Check to be sure that the information you submitted is complete. Some browsers, especially older versions, may not respond to the buttons in our registration form. To use our site, we recommend you use the following browsers:

Netscape Navigator versions 3.0 and above Internet Explorer versions 3.0. and above. Visit our Browser Assistance area for more information.

If your browser is not the problem, please see questions 4 and 5.

4. My username is taken? How can that be?
It is possible that a current member of ThirdAge has already registered with the username you have entered. Sometimes all you'll need to do is add a favorite number to the end of the name, and that will take care of it. Or you may prefer to use a unique nickname given to you by family or friends.

5. Why doesn't my email address work in the registration form?
Be sure you have entered your full e-mail address. For example, john@abc123.com". Be sure to enter your e-mail address with no spaces. (It won't work if you just use your handle or screen name; the address must be complete.)

6. Is the information that I submit to ThirdAge.com private?
Yes. For more information, please read our Privacy Policy.

Membership Concerns

7. What do I do if I forget my username and/or password?
Visit Password Retrieval and enter your e-mail address. Be sure to use the exact address you used when registering, and you'll receive your username and password in an e-mail. Remember that receiving newsletters or class assignments from the Learning Center does not automatically mean you are a member. You'll still need to fill out the registration form.

8. Why does Password Retrieval say I'm not a member if I receive newsletters every day?
You are probably subscribed to one or more ThirdAge Newsletters, but have not yet registered for a ThirdAge membership. This problem is more common than you think, and it's easy to get confused! To check on your newsletter subscriptions, go to the Newsstand. To sign up for a username and password, fill out the registration form.

9. Where do I go to change my membership information?
Please visit Member Preferences and log in to change your e-mail address or other personal information. You cannot change your username, but you can sign up for a new username.

10. How do I give you my new email address?
If you are a newsletter subscriber only, you can do this at the Newsstand. Members, please visit Member Preferences to make this change.

11. Are ThirdAge newsletters free? Will they always be free?
Both ThirdAge newsletters and ThirdAge memberships are entirely free!

12. How do I subscribe to or unsubscribe from ThirdAge newsletters?
To remove yourself from receiving ThirdAge newsletters, please visit the Newsstand. Enter your e-mail address to access your account. Make sure there are no spaces at the end of your e-mail account. Click submit, then make the appropriate changes and click "submit." To remove yourself from the ThirdAge Insiders list, make sure there is NO checkmark next to "Yes! I want to be included on the ThirdAge Insiders list." Then click "submit."

To unsubscribe from a ThirdAge class, you'll need to access the Registration Status area and follow the instructions provided.
