What We Want for Mother's Day
With Mother's Day 2012 coming up, we decided to ask ThirdAgers what they'd love to get from their families this Sunday. Not surprisingly, the gift of time was at the top of many women's lists. Other mothers, though, had some fun and quirky requests. Here's what they all told us:
"A day to do what I want! And for my daughter to do everything else! I would love a day at the beach, just chilling!"
Mary Sullivan, 52, Port Charlotte, Florida
"I want time. But not just any old time. I want time to piddle. I want time to read uninterrupted. I want time where I have no worries. I want time without anything to 'handle' for any other family member. I want time to be silent. I want time to dream without judgment. I want time without expectations of productivity. I want time that is peaceful with no clock watching. I want time to create art, sing, sleep, and do with as I please. And I could have all this without anyone spending a penny! That's what I want most! Every mother, no matter what their age, would like many items from my list.
Darla Arni, 55, Slater, Missouri
"What I'd like for Mother's Day is a couple of interruption-free hours to scrapbook followed by dinner prepared at home or at a restaurant.
Trish Sweeney, 49, Irvine, California
