No Empty Nest Here!
Dear Lois My parents have what I consider to be the perfect relationship with their children and grandchildren. They actually look for excuses to tend them because they enjoy the vitality and love they bring into their lives. They are very active and have lots of friends, but they always make time for family. My teenagers actually take their dates to Grandma and Grandpa's to play cards as a date. CLAUDIA IN SALT LAKE CITY Dear Claudia This is a significant reminder for those couples who wonder where the magic went once their children walked out the door. If you really work at life, you can turn the empty nest into a time of meaningful connection. I do think that it all begins with a good relationship between Grandma and Grandpa. If couples don't take care of one another during those demanding years of child-raising, there's a good chance they'll miss the enjoyment they can find together when the grandchildren come into their home.
