When Your Other Half Dies
Dear Lois My friend recently lost his wife of many years. Her death was sudden and unexpected, and he's having a hard time adjusting. Are there some good books or articles that address this particular situation that I could recommend or get for him? A FRIEND Dear Friend There are many good books about bereavement, but each of them--for one reason or another--often fails to meet the needs of the reader. In my own case, when I lost my husband, I found that the only book that offered me solace and companionship was one by C. S. Lewis titled "A Grief Observed." A movie, "Shadowlands," was made from the book, though the book is so much more revealing and comforting than the film that I recommend it strongly. When Your Other Half Dies is an article on ThirdAge that reviews grief resources on the Internet and provides information on the stages of grieving. I hope these bring some peace to your friend.
