The Web in Space
Ten years ago, the Internet could connect you with your local community college, no sweat. Today, the Net can connect you across billions and billions of light years--making the term "World Wide Web" an understatement.
The speedy evolution of the Internet and the even speedier evolution of computers has brought a true information revolution to planet Earth, and now the inertia of progress is bringing the power of the Internet to space, as well. A number of efforts are taking place to extend the reach of the Internet beyond Earth's atmosphere, and I will highlight a few here. So put on your John Glenn uniforms and strap into your pilot seat, because this is not science fiction!
