Help Japan: Here's How

The 9.0-earthquake and consequent tsunami that hit Japan last week has causedenormous destruction. Numerous organizations have stepped up to provide relief to thepeople of Japan as they cope with this great crisis. To lend a helping hand, here is a list of10 foundations and funds to which you can donate:

The Red Cross. You can donate $10 from your phone by texting REDCROSS to 90999, or visit Redcross.org.

International Medical Corps. Text MED to 80888 from your mobile or visit Internationalmedicalcorps.org to help contribute to their medical response.

Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF). This effort is sending teams over to Japan to provide much needed medical assistance. To learn more or to make a donation, visit Doctorswithoutborders.org.

The Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund. This effort has already raised over $500,000. Make a donationeither anonymously or in honor of someoneat GlobalGiving.org.

Salvation Army. Visit SalvationArmyUSA.org to help out, or text JAPAN or QUAKE to 80888 to donate $10.

Operation USA. You can donate healthcare supplies and medical items in bulk at OpUSA.org.

MercyCorp. Make a monetary contribution at MercyCorp.com or Peace-winds.org/en to help Peace Winds Japan provide emergency relief.
