Aspirin Shows Promise for Colon Cancer Patients

It's already recommended for aches, pains and preventing heart attacks. Now, there's evidence aspirin may help in the battle against colon cancer.

A study finds colon cancer patients who took the inexpensive wonder drug reduced their risk of death from the disease by nearly 30 percent.

The new study suggests patients who already have colon cancer may benefit from taking aspirin along with surgery and chemotherapy. But researchers say it's too early for an across-the-board recommendation.

In a separate analysis of a subgroup of patients, only those with the most common type of tumor saw a benefit.

Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States after lung cancer.

The study is in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

This was what was said earlier, but then later studies said it wasn't the case, and so now are they back to the old story. The story that the low dose aspirin that helps cardiovascular issues, can also help prevent colorectal cancer. This story's history is like a rollercoaster.
