A Typical Guy - Humbled

A Typical Guy - Humbled

I guess I'm a typical 57 year old. Never wanted to go and see the doctor. Hated doctors. Wanted nothing to do with them. But a year ago, I had to get a physical for work, and the doctor found a suspicious growth in my prostate that turned out to be cancer. I was never so scared in my life. Fortunately, I was able to have it removed surgically, and except for a little discomfort (and a week of wearing depends) it all worked out fine. I have to say that my doctors were fantastic.

Now I urge every man I meet over 50 to have a check up. It's not as bad as you imagine it. And your family will thank you.

well done you

So glad you put this post up,it is I am afraid typical of a lot of men, but some women too. I sometimes don't go to the doc's because I think I am being neurotic/making a fuss over nothing, but recent deaths from cancer in the family and my sisters very recent diagnosis of breast cancer are making me think again, hopefully not in a paranoid way!
So well done for making this point,it is a literal life saver!
I would add also though, to trust your instincts.Doc's and consultants are not infallible no matter how fantastic, this too can be a life saver.
