Be Mine for a Long Time

By Ellen Griffin

The countdown to Valentine's Day has begun. In the spirit of long-lasting love, here are five ways to show your loved ones you want them around for years to come.

Say B mine. Unleash the power of B vitamins to keep your honey's heart pumping strong. Wrap a jar of multivitamins in fancy paper and a bow, and make a romantic ritual out of daily vitamin taking.

Give 'em a squeeze. Give your overworked desk jockey a hand and arm massage. Give a scalp massage for the headache-prone, or a foot massage for the road weary.

Go ahead, give chocolate. Researchers believe chocolate releases the same feel-good endorphins you get from lovemaking, and is a good source of important vitamins and minerals, too.

Sweat together. There's no better prescription for good health and long life than regular aerobic exercise. And there's no better way to stick with an exercise program than doing it with a partner. Make a pact to stay strong together. Use a daily walk as your catch-up time, add a hike or a canoe trip to your weekend getaway, or better yet, meet at the gym three times a week.

Pay attention. Make sure your Valentine gets the medical attention he or she needs. A little gentle pressure to get an annual physical, or make that call to the chiropractor could be just what a loved one needs to take health-saving action.
