The love affair began over a year ago on the Internet. It hit a new high with a wedding celebration over the weekend.
Maureen and Ken Cram exchanged wedding vows at their home in rural New Hampshire with the same firebrand spirit that led them to seek each other out on the Net in the first place. Maureen walked down the aisle (out of the bedroom into the living room) to the strains of "How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You" by Marvin Gaye and - after the vows were taken and cheers filled the room -- walked back to "Hey Good Lookin'" by Hank Williams.
"We could never be accused of being traditional," she said.
Both Maureen and Ken had joined an online dating service more than a year ago on the off chance that they would connect with kindred spirits. The pair found a lot in common and began to exchange email on a regular basis. Then they got wired up with Internet phones to spend more time together on the Net. Before long, there was little doubt - love was pulsating over the wires.
Eventually, Maureen traveled from her home in Johannesburg, South Africa, to rural New Hampshire to be with Ken. The two were legally married for immigration purposes on New Year's Eve. They held the special weekend ceremony to exchange vows and celebrate with family and friends.
Their secret to finding love on the Net: "We were 150 percent honest with each other," she said before the ceremony. "We are also perfectly at ease with being by ourselves. We had decided that if any relationship was not 100 percent, we were OK with being by ourselves? Most important of all -- to me -- is that we share the same spiritual views."
