Your Daily Coverage
Hospital indemnity insurance will pay a certain amount each day you are in the hospital. Depending on your policy, the amount allowed per day varies widely, ranging from around $100 to $400.Your daily coverage can also change depending on your health status. A serious condition or ailment such as cancer may prompt the provider to up your coverage per day, but be aware that some companies have limitations on pre-existing conditions. Some plans will also have a maximum allowed number of days that they will help cover. Age and number of family members in the hospital will also be taken into account. -
Who Receives the Money
Some insurance policies will pay the hospital, while others decide to give the check directly to you as the payee. Often, the money will be paid directly to you so that you can personally take care of the various fees you may have.
The expenses of your hospital visit may result in extra fees you may not have considered, such as nursing charges, transportation costs, telephone calls, and babysitter fees. Other times, the policy will pay the hospital instead, so make sure to follow up with both your insurance company and hospital to stay in the loop about which costs are covered.
