Having sex again at 61!

Having sex again at 61!

I lost my husband a year and a half ago and was so much in grief I didn't even think of sex, I had gained weight, wasn't able to exercise because of a back injury. But I started in the last couple of months to want sex again.

I had recently seen my doctor I had vaginal burning and pain, he was unable to insert a regular sized speculum it hurt so bad I cried, but I also said, here I am, old and now I'll never be able to have sex again!!! I insisted on being started on vagi fem tabs and noticed I was getting lubrication back.

Then a man 30 years younger than me said he was attracted to me, I was blown away I couldn't believe it, we had sex the first time and it did hurt but was phenomenal, all my sex drive has returned, the second time was better though it is still somewhat uncomfortable but not enough to stop!

I write this for women like me who are are dealing with post menopausal vaginal atrophy (get estring or vagifem tabs) and to women like my some of my friends who are married and absolutely dread and hate sex both because of lack of desire and pain.

I think it is really true that we have to use it or lose it, I was amazed that after just a year and a half, I was literally drying up.

I've also noticed that some doctors don't seem to care if you are an older woman, like why do you care about having sex anyway? I am now looking at a women's clinic that uses bioidenticals.

There is hope for us maybe not the same as it was but it can be just as fulfilling.

Best to you all.

KY is OK for young folks but at our age, nope!

I'm 61 and takes a bit longer for us older guys. KY dries out and becomes sticky actually interfering with sex. I have found a medium to high end silicone available even at Target and drug chains to be the perfect solution.... no evaporation or absorption, latex friendly also It's wondrously slick forever. Just as a side note when my wife passed away the people at the hospital told me I would be in a daze for 18 months and not to make important decisions, investments, etc , They were correct. I'm glad you are finding out how to live again. Good luck

Fourstarz, can you tell me

Fourstarz, can you tell me what the high end silicone you are talking about?  Is it a vaginal lubrication product?  Astroglide is more slippery & doesn't really become sticky or dry up.  Thanks, Crickett

Oh, about the Dawn

Oh, about the Dawn cleanup... she couldn't get out of the bedroom.. her hands were too slippery to work the knob...LOL

The high end is JO Premium

The high end is JO Premium $15 for 2 oz from CVS and WELL WELL WORTH IT.... a few DROPS do it, marvelously slick and does not get absorbed or evaporate!  ID Millennium and Wet Platinum are a little lower high end silicones and a little cheaper but of course you end up using more.  CAREFUL.. JO, ID and Wet make lower priced waterbased lookalike products identical to Astroglide.  Read the label and there were will be no water and glycerine on a silicone product.  JO Premium needs Dawn to get it completely off your hands if you use a lot of it for say a hand job but regular bathing soap is fine for intimate areas.  The others clean up with regular soap.  The low end silicone is Love Garden at Target for about $8 for 5 oz. Hope that helps and let's hear how it works out for you.

KY Jelly

Try KY jelly and the discomfort should stop.

K-Y can help; but if one is

K-Y can help; but if one is either totally menopausal (without a period for at least a good year or more)--that may help only to a degree; may need a vaginal estrogen(Estrace, Estring, Vagifem).
