Hi 'Three R's'
Yes, many others of us have had much the same experience as you have with it. Some of the women did say they didn't believe that the hot flashes were what made my stomach want to heave and yet I knew that when I get that hot that's exactly how the stomach acted...and I even did upchuck. Enough upchucking to lose 9 lbs in 2 weeks. That was 20+ years ago for me and even though I'm long past the 'true' hot flashes I still get way too warm way too easily...and I've met other ladies who are post meno who've told me they also have not gotten past being too hot too easily.
As for sleeping a bit better at night, I do keep my ac at 60 deg so that I can have a lighter blanket on me and still not get too hot that I can't sleep. I do also even have a fan running which is aimed at my head (on the lowest setting and it truly is a gentle speed) which helps me cool down quicker and sleep better in the summer months, plus I do also use it in the winter and I live in SE MIchigan.
Others have gotten a product called 'Chillow Pillow' which runs about $30 and is considered a good one to keep your head cooler which helps keep the hot flashes in control if not gone.
Good luck. It's not an easy passage for us freemales, however, it's a great feeling when we get past the bulk of meno.

Hot Flashes
I would like to know what other women can tell me about this. I am 48 and just started to feel these hot flashes. They are so entense that I sometimes feel like I am going to be sick or just pass out. I also feel like I am either on fire or running a very high tempature. I also have a very difficulte time sometimes sleeping at night with this as it wakes me up all the time. I have to cool of long enough just to feel comfortable to get back to sleep for a while. Then repeat it all over again when it happens later. If anyone can tell me how to cope with this but without drugs that would be a great help.
Hi, I'm 53 now & 48 was
Hi, I'm 53 now & 48 was about when I started with all the horrible menopause symptoms. I got such severe hot flashes alot of times followed by icy chills that I was beside myself ready to go crazy. The severe hot flashes lasted approximately 1 1/2 yrs to 2 years before my last period ever & approximately 1 1/2 yrs. after my last period ever. That doesn't mean that is how long yours will last; so don't panic. Then I had NO hot flashes for months; then mild flashes still on and off. I used to get desperate & use an unopened frozen bag of veggies & put it either on my forehead, chest or exposed tummy. That really did help. I know you can buy something at drug stores (I forget what it is called), but they are gel type strips you cut to & peel the backing off & apply where you feel the most heat. They work up to 5 hours. They DID help, but the frozen bag of veggies is a cheaper alternative. Years ago, someone told me when you are really hot, allow your stomach area to be completely exposed. It works, then add the frozen bag of veggies to the stomach & that really, really helped me; along with open windows in the winter at times.... People have said Remifemin also helps. I never tried that. Remember this too shall pass. Crickett53
