MERRY CHRISTMAS

Hope that everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Happy Turkeys to one and all...

I do hope all of you have a great turkey day. We have a couple of inches of snow here and yet it's not any huge amount so that is good.

I'm taking the Census 2010 prelim exam tonight to work for them...I had worked in the 2000 Census in their offices so have priority there, plus being retired govt employee, plus have hubby's military retirement points so it's usually a shoo in to get a job with them.

I've also gone through a horrible time working with my doc to rid me of a tiresome head cold. First week's med didn't work so we had to change it to another antibiotic to eliminate the problem. The newer one is finally being effective--thank goodness.

Enjoy the weekend and the holiday season following it.

Crickett I am sorry to hear

Crickett I am sorry to hear of your loss and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Crickett to Allison

Hi Allison, thanks so much for the prayers. It's been so surreal(sp?) My sister-in-law has been in so much pain for so many years with extreme, extreme headaches from a broken jaw in a car accident almost 30 years ago. It wasn't bad at first, but I guess got really bad over the last number of years. It seems doctors couldn't help her. We still don't know the actual cause of death. Funeral is tomorrow; not looking forward to that. My heart breaks for Jon's mom especially. She just lost my father-in-law a little over 3 years ago. If you ever want to email each other, let me know; if you don't; that's okay. Crickett

Hello girls!

Just looking in on the bb`s as I haven`t been here in ages!! How is everyone? I hope you are all well and happy :)
Thought I`d say the pic by my name is my 2 year old grandson Rico, some of you know him well, lol!! He is a darling and my only grandchild, so I am a typical besotted Nanna :)
Hey Allison, thanks for asking where I was, I find the format of these boards a bit tiresome and I miss the old ones, so I don`t get here often.
Hi She...nice pic of you and Bob :))))))
I`ll try and come back more often, see you girls soon! Marie..

Hi Marie:  Glad to see you on the boards again, I don't come here very often myself, your grandson is a real cutie.  Allison

Hi there, I don`t come on these bb`s a lot now, but your post caught my eye. I have Fibromylalgia as well and I had and am still having a rotten time during peri and now post meno! Sleeplessness, still having hot flushes, and weight gain, but the night sweats are the worse even though I am 3 years post meno now.Do you take HRT? I went down the naturals route and didn`t take it. There are lots of things that you can take if you prefer the natural way, but I have to say that none of them will be as effective as HRT :(
As for Fibro, what do you take for pain? I take Gabapentin, 200mgs twice a day and 300 mgs before bed, along with this I take Tramadol three times a day too. I have had a few nasty flare ups, but at the moment it`s not too bad thank goodness. I am also borderline diabetic, I am glucose intolerant, so I am working at losing weight to stave off becoming a diabetic just yet.
Don`t be scared of meno, we all go through it scared or not, and I have found that my symtoms always seemed worse when I was stressed, maybe that`s psychological right? lol! Anyway the girls here will give you plenty of help and support, they are a good crowd :)
Chin up ok! Marie..

Scared of menopause and all of the changes.

Hi, i'm 46, a new type two diabetic, newly diagnosed fibromyalgia sufferer and today I found out i'm beginning menopause. Please help me navigate these waters. My diabetes is under control but I need help with the rest. Thank you!

Welcome to the boards... You

Welcome to the boards... You will meet some great ladies on here that will be more than willing to help you with any of your questions... I have been type 2 diabetc for almost a year now and have no problems with it durning menopause.

That is more great news from you, Chris.

Yeah, your family may be going too far in trying to help you since your surgery and yet it's great that they're not trying to make you feel that it's no big deal either...'cause we freemales know it's major, major surgery.

This also can be a good time to help you learn to relax more and let the others in your family do more rather than them doing it for them...don't cha know? LOLOL That's often a super hard thing for us mothers to learn how to handle. Good luck at both.

I'm going to the weight board now 'cause I've lost 7 lbs in this week on the NutriSystem Advanced program...and no, it's not hard and yes, the foods are much more normal ones.

Hang in there, Chris. You're doing great. And yes! Do NOT pick up those over 5 lb'ers just because you're feeling better and 'think' it's o.k. 'cause you are feeling better so it must be o.k. That's where our 'need to do' upbringing can ruin a good thing for us. We believe that because we see it's not in the right place that we're the ones who need to move it...and while it's hard to not just do it and get it over with, it doesn't help us get others to do their share of the work also.

LoisAnn :o)

HOORAY for Chris!!!

Just saw your note, kiddo. That is super terrific news! Please do all as your doc tells you to as you have had super serious surgery. You'll do great convalescing (ms?)

Hang in there...and it's always great to be able to let your hubby do it.

LoisAnn :o)

LoisAnn is right take it

LoisAnn is right take it easy and do what they tell you to do.  I followed their advice when I had my complete hysto a few years ago.  I was still working then and they told me to stay out of work for 8 weeks.  I didn't feel like going back before that anyway.  Good Luck, Chris,  Allison

Chris & your great news!!!!

Hi Chris, thank GOD for your cancer-free diagnosis. You & your hubby must've felt like celebrating even though you really can't with your healing process. I am so happy about your results. Rest up & try not to do too much even when you feel better. My mom had a hysterectomy & bladder lift vaginally & she still was told not to lift more than 10lbs for 3 whole months. My other friend had a complete hysterecomy the normal way & couldn't lift much for several months either. I'm sure your doc went over all that with you, but in case he didn't--make sure you check how much you can lift & when. Sometimes when we start to feel better; we try to do more--which is probably a NO-NO. God bless, Crickett

Thanks for all the well

Thanks for all the well wishes.  Before I left the hospital the nurse gave me a packet of do's and don'ts but she also told me if it was too heavy to left with both hands don't lift it.  She told me anything over 5lbs is pushing it, so my husband and son won't let me do anything.  They both went back to work today and I really got a lot more rest without them both asking me if I needed anything ha ha.  I will let you know how things go.

Chris & LoisAnn

Hi ladies, hope you are both doing better physically as I post this!!! Crickett

Hi Crickett, I am doing

Hi Crickett,

I am doing much better today.  It has been hard this week as far as the pain and soreness goes but I have a wonderful husband who took the week off work and has done everything.  I am feeling a lot less soreness today and I know it will take time but things will get better.  The doctor called last week with the pathologists results and they were normal, no cancer at all, and that made me and my husband feel a lot better.  Thanks for all the prayers from you and for thinking of me during this time.

Chris

I put this message on another board, however, it fits here

also...and this subject can also hit other posters.
I went for my stress test this am...sheez, up at 6 am to be at hospital by 8 am. They were unable to thread an IV so we had to postpone it until we can try again. I'm going to reschedule it for 2 weeks from today to give my veins that they might use a chance to heal over from what was done today. The hosp staff member who had originally scheduled it for me had told me to not drink anything for 6 hours and I followed his directions. I hate that sequence 'cause then they can rarely get my veins to cooperate. I found out that he was wrong and they have no problem when I could drink water, just not to eat foods. Because my raspberry tea is non caffeine, I can drink it to my hearts content. So...we've set my next try for 2 weeks from today at 8: 30 am to give me plenty of time both prior to bedtime and after I get up to go to horspistal to drink plenty of fluids to plump up the veins...we hope, we hope. I only let her do 2 tries today as they were really painful as it was--one in my regular 'good' location on my arm and the other in my wrist. She had used heat on the areas to warm them up, had done lots of thumping to try to get the veins to show, had left the tournicat on for 15 minutes and absolutely nothing worked. NO THANK YOU, I said...and had her pull them out and quit for today. I also have to call my gyno and have my mammo done this month. I cancelled my therapy session today because I was exhausted from a trip to Marshall MI yesterday with a bunch of lady friends and then up early again this am. I slept most of the afternoon--no, I absolutely could not keep myself awake...my bod said sleep and I was out like a light.

Oh well, moving on once again.

LoisAnn :o)

Chris

Chris, did you see my reply further down posted on 9-28? I am so happy that the doctor didn't see anything suspicious. Sending to Pathlogy is just standard procedure. I'm glad all went well. You are probably sore & so tired. That is a major surgery unless you had your uterus removed vaginally like my mother. Her recoup time that way was quicker & less pain. Although with the fibroids--you probably had your hysterectomy the more difficult way? Continue to keep you in my prayers!! God Bless, Crickett

Hi, Crickett.

Good to 'see' you again also. You're right that starting a new discussion doesn't get you to the top of this discussion...you need to hit the 'button' that says 'post reply' at the top of this column to the right of the one that says 'start a new discussion'. Then it stays in this discussion.

I hope you're fine and didn't get into any flooding. I've been wondering how Kat did with the Chi Town flooding a week or so back. Good I hope.

I also thought Chris was having her hyster around last Friday but then I could have been wrong on that date. If she did I don't imagine we'll hear from her for a while now.

Yes Toni, Sharon, judi,

Yes Toni, Sharon, judi, Marie, Susan 1  come out, where are you, I miss you all too.   Glad to see She & Kathy back.   I'll say it again I miss the old boards, I don't come here so often anymore either.  Third age did me no favors by changing the format. I would rather put up with the trolls and go back to the way we were it was a fun way to keep in touch, and you have to admit some of those trolls were a few laughs.  Allison/NY now Allison24

Glad we/ve been able to

Glad we/ve been able to stay in contact at least, Allison.  Yeah, some of those 'nasty' trolls weren't as nasty as we were told, huh? LOLOL

Our weather has cooled down a lot but still not enough for me to leave the ac off at night...triple D on that.  I've had probs with my breathing at my knee therapy and Doc Jay is having me undergo a radiology stress test to check out potential angina (not the pain part but the oxygen part).  Really scared the therapists a couple of times...but...we got past that thank goodness.  Oh well, we take it as b est we can as we get older, huh?  I guess turning 70 hasn't exactly been the best year yet at this point. hahahaha

Hope your weather's good, you and yours are in good health and all is well in your world.

 LoisAnn :o)

Hi LoisAnn. Yes I am glad

Hi LoisAnn. Yes I am glad that we have kept in touch.  You have been having a rough time of late, good luck with the stress test, when are you having it?  Keep me posted on  how you make out.  I am having my annual mammogram on Monday.  Hopefully all goes well I had a few calls back before.  We had beautiful weather this week, but yesterday we had heavy rain on and off all day.  Today it was supposed be the same but the sun has been out and no rain so far it even  got warm this afternoon.   The nights have been cool here so I haven't needed to leave the AC on at night.  Talk to you soon, Allison

That is terrific news, Chris...HOORAY for you.

Your and your doc's positive attitudes should do all of you well in your post surgery progress. You know that those ladies who pray will definitely be on your side here and those of us who aren't in to it will wish you all possible good results.

Take it easy in your recovery and do let us know how you doing later.

You're welcome, kiddo.

LoisAnn :o)

Hi Ladies, Well I am

Hi Ladies,

Well I am back.  Quite a bit sore but I know I will feel better soon.  The doctor said all went well with my hysterectomy.  He said there was nothing suspicious looking but he had to send it to pathology anyway but said there is less than a fraction of a percent that there is anything there.  The nurse said this doctor is good and if he said he didn't see anything, there is nothing to see.  I had the surger Friday at 11:30am and came home Sunday about 12:30 pm.  I thank you all for your thoughts and prayers but I am going now, I get tired pretty fast right now.  Will write more later.

Chris

Surgery

Hi Ladies,
Well I got great news from the doctor yesterday. He went over the results from my tests and did and exam then talked with me and my husband. He said from all he sees there is less than a 5% chance that I have cancer. I am going to have a hysterectomy Friday at 11am to get rid of the fibroids and cysts and according to him I will feel like a new woman when all this stuff is gone. I know it will through me into menopause but after what I have been through this past year I am going to take it one day at a time. I am so thankful that the outcome seems so good and that in a few weeks I should be getting back to my old self. I have had two c-sections in my life and I know there will be pain but after a while things will be better. Thank you all so much for your prayers and please continue to pray that the surgery will go well.

Again, thank you.
Chris

Chris, don't know how I

Chris, don't know how I missed your post.  I just had typed this before seeing your 9-20 post:   Chris, don't have any other way of getting a hold of you & I realize us regulars or(anyone) for that matter rarely uses this meno board anymore, but it almost the very end of September & you have been on my mind, heart & utmost prayers.  Have you had a second opinion yet?   Do you have surgery scheduled?  Please know there are people out there that are thinking of you, praying for you, okay?  I don't know nor do any of us, except God, what will be the outcome of your tests.  I am hoping & praying for a good report.  Having gone through what Jon & I have gone through in the past couple years has been a struggle for me.  Yet, despite the struggles, I know it is something God still continues to bring me through and won't "drop" me.  I cling to my faith in good times & bad times.  Some people may look at this as a crutch.  It is not.  It is real.       Anyway, Chris, according to your post, you must've had your surgery just a couple days ago?  Probably still in the hospital, in pain.  That's what I mean about this new & improved(hah) site--it is so hard to follow posts & find new posts.  I try to start a new discussion so it will bring my discussion to the top & it won't let me.  Hope you find this post & know I'm concerned.  Post when you can!  I have no other way of getting in touch with you.  Crickett

Thanks for the reminder, Chris...

and please keep us updated;. I absolutely hope for the best possible results and answers for you. Sounds like you have a good doc there.

LoisAnn :o)

Thanks Loisann, The

Thanks Loisann,

The thoughts and prayers mean so much to me.  I have so many friends and family that are praying for me that I don't have much choice but to get well.  Thank you very much for thinking of me.

Chris

Dr. Appointment

Hi Ladies,
Well I go Friday for my second opinion on when and where to have my hysterectomy. Please continue to pray that they won't find ovarian cancer. My dr. here still says he doesn't think it is cancer but he wants me to be safe and get a second opinion at one of the best cancer centers in the states. I will have to have a hysterectomy either way since I am having trouble with fibroids and cysts but would rather have it here at home if possible. Thank you ladies for your prayers.
Chris

Chris, you have been in my

Chris, you have been in my prayers & was just saying some prayers for you for peace of mind, health as I saw your post.  Will continue to pray.  Please keep us informed.  No one hardly seems to use this new site anymore.  It got rid of trolls, but also the regulars pretty much.    Crickett

You're right about the

You're right about the site.  I don't come like I did on the old site.  It was easier to find what you wanted and who you were looking for.  Thank you so much for the prayers.  You may not know how much it means to me to have someone pray for me during this time.  I will let you know as soon as I find out what is going on.

Chris

Thanks for the B'day congrats, Allison.

I had a grand day. Had lunch with gf's at a restaurant that serves a steak dinner for free on your b'day...break my heart, huh? Then had ice cream treats at my therapy salon...more hip, hips there. LOLOL Received many cards from so many ladies and friends.

Then went out and got myself a new puter (HP one) to replace the old one that was acting up badly and not letting me connect often. So...now I should be able to not have to be on today, off tomorrow ad infinitum. LOLOL again.

We've had a rainy weekend since Friday night and repercussions from Ike hadn't even arrived here yet. We did get a lot of rain and are supposed to get more today and tomorrow due to Ike now. Ooookkkkaaayyy...I guess, huh?

Thanks for saying 'hi', etc. Hope you've been having a decent September. We've had some nice really cool (cold to many others) nights and I do appreciate those.

LoisAnn :o)
