inactive sex life a trigger?

I was wondering if an inactive sex life could trigger menopause to come earlier than expected...I haven't had sex in almost a year(husband has e.d.) and my periods have been getting worse(more pain, heavier, moodier, etc.)

Menopause

Hello all,
Hoping someone has a few ideas for me.. I'm 51 and pretty much thru menopause with a few flashes here and there. I haven't had a period in about 5 years, I have never taken hormones due to cancer in the family, so pretty much winged it. I would love to get on a all natural product that would be good for alot of things. But, the biggest problem I have is I have no sex drive and I really don't care because it hurts and very dry..even though I have used products for dryness, my Dr. gave me some premarin but, after a couple of weeks, that became a nuisance. I just know there has to be things out there to use that I could benefit from. Any idess?

Menopause

Hi: I haven't had my period since January 1, 2009 and 53 y.o. and the last month I noticed I'm always hungry all the time. I use to have this problem two weeks before my period. It's driving me crazy the only thing that helps a little is if I eat protein. Does anybody or has anybody ever had this problem. I'm consumed by it cause I can't really function when I feel hungry. Thanks for your help. Carol

Hi Carol,

I am 53 also & I haven't had a full period since February 09 but even though I only have spotting or sometimes nothing, whenever that time comes around I get all the symptoms like bloating, headaches, backaches, nausea, anxiety & sleepnessness. My hormones take about a week before & a week after to settle down. Don't know when it will end.

Hi Loisann

I am doing much better now, thanks for asking. I hope you & family are doing good also. I sure hope that the other ladies can come here too again. It'll be like a reunion, lol.
Jane A.

Hi, Jane...

It's good to see you again also. Many of the 'older' ladies from the 'old' boards don't care for the way these are set up so they don't come here that often...at least...not to these open discussions. Sorry 'bout that.

Yes, it's good to see you again also. Hope you're doing good and all is well in your world for you and yours.

Just ask my mother!

Hi, Allison & others who've written asking for info on my

stress test, etc.

I went for my stress test this am...sheez, up at 6 am to be at hospital by 8 am. They were unable to thread an IV so we had to postpone it until we can try again. I'm going to reschedule it for 2 weeks from today to give my veins that they might use a chance to heal over from what was done today. The hosp staff member who had originally scheduled it for me had told me to not drink anything for 6 hours and I followed his directions. I hate that sequence 'cause then they can rarely get my veins to cooperate. I found out that he was wrong and they have no problem when I could drink water, just not to eat foods. Because my raspberry tea is non caffeine, I can drink it to my hearts content. So...we've set my next try for 2 weeks from today at 8: 30 am to give me plenty of time both prior to bedtime and after I get up to go to horspistal to drink plenty of fluids to plump up the veins...we hope, we hope. I only let her do 2 tries today as they were really painful as it was--one in my regular 'good' location on my arm and the other in my wrist. She had used heat on the areas to warm them up, had done lots of thumping to try to get the veins to show, had left the tournicat on for 15 minutes and absolutely nothing worked. NO THANK YOU, I said...and had her pull them out and quit for today. Let me/us know when you get your mammo results. I also have to call my gyno and have mine done this month. We'll do great, lady. Thanks for writing. I cancelled my therapy session today because I was exhausted from a trip to Marshall MI yesterday with a bunch of lady friends and then up early again this am. I slept most of the afternoon--no, I absolutely could not keep myself awake...my bod said sleep and I was out like a light.

Thanks for asking about my tests, Allison. So far no new answers...just frustration when trying to even perform the necessary tests to determine what might be wrong, etc.

Susan, are you still around? I hope so :) She

Hi PuddleJumper...

This is a relatively new set of meno pages and doesn't get a lot of females answering messages all that often yet.

As for your taking the hormones and thinking they will 'keep you in meno' forever...nope, didn't happen that way for me. I am 70 yo now and did take hormones until I was 60 yo. Can it take 6 years? Yeah...that's not a huge long time for meno. Even your normal meno can take that long--or longer--easily by itself. The hormones tend to help you have an easier time of it during that time though. The biggest problem is that each of us reacts differently to the hormones and get different results. Several ladies suggest pushing your gyno to allow you to be on bio identical hormones and they are said to be much easier on you and your system. They take a while to adjust to get the right dosage, however, they are preferable (in so many ladies eyes) to the problems with regular older fashioned hormones. You should be able to search for them under 'bio identical hormones' topic. Also, do push your gyno for info on them as I mentioned. Many docs are not eager to help you find them, however, we females have the right to demand that they allow us to help find easier meds for us to take, huh?

There really is no 'intruding' here, lady. A good many women do 'finish' meno and have no more symptoms. Others--like me--get past the meno early enough and still have a propensity to get overheated super easily even though meno is long gone for me. I consider that to be more of a personal physcial problem more than a hormone related problem.

Good luck. Please do let us know how you're doing as you get more info?

Thank you LoisAnn for

Thank you LoisAnn for your kind
words of support.  I am very grateful for your suggestions and all the information
you provided.  I am sorry I did not reply sooner but as I said I am new to
all this and it took me a while to find my way back.

Once again, Thank You.

Best regards,

Puddle Jumper.

Menopause a question?

I came upon the Third Age web as I was interested in some information regarding Menopause. I found a question and answer page and asked a question. I am not in the least computer literate, and find the web page very confusing. I have been unable to find the answer I was looking for. So I will ask again, here. I have “bookmarked’ this page so that I can return and hopefully find the answers I am looking for. Below you will find my question. If you are unable to answer will you please direct me to where I will find the answers I am looking for. Yes I asked my doctor and as usual I received from him, your old get used to it keep taking the Prempro………………..
Thank you.
My question?
I have been suffering with Menopause for nearly 6 years. I was recently told by a concerned friend that hormone therapy helps you to manage your symptoms but while taking the supplement you will continue to go through menopause. In other words if you take a replacement you will continue to be in a state of “menopause” and never finish. 6 years is a long time to “suffer.” And with the dangers from the continued use of Prempro should I stop taking the medication and let it take it course and I will finally be finished?

Once again I am very new to all of this. I hope I have not intruded.

Hi, Kathy...

I found your message from yesterday waaayyy at the bottom of this list of postings. If you click on the 'post a reply' notice at the top of this subject column, it will show up at the top of the other messages also.

I hope you're doing well and enjoying your home, etc. I've gotten back on the wagon and have started back to losing weight I didn't want to refind...hahahaha.

LoisAnn :o)

Hi HollyGail!

I don't post as often on the boards anymore cuz don't find alot of "recognizable" people anymore, but I still look to see if there is anything recent. I hope these "intense" times don't wear you down too much. Know we're still here for ya Crickett

Hi, y'all

I'm amazed I got here and see some familiar names. Going through some intense things right now, will get back later when I'm more settled down.
So glad to see you!!!

You'll do what you believe you need to do, Sue...

however, I've found that I need to give things three chances to come out o.k. If they haven't gone better by that time then I can junk it and believe that I gave it a good try. I do know that by reaching the meno online screen and adding that to my bookmarks I can click on that bookmark and get to these headings first off without going through so many of the others again and again. Also, when I post a reply I always put it at the top so that it's easier to find than when it's below someone else's previous post. As I've used the screens, they move from one to the other much quicker than at the beginning of this new system. It does take a bit longer to page back on them but even that isn't as long as it was at the beginning.

Whatever your decision, I also did enjoy 'talking' with you, lady, and hope that you'll do o.k. and get through this passage in your life.

Good luck whatever you decided to do or not to do.

LoisAnn, Thanks once again

LoisAnn, Thanks once again for the sound advice. I am finding the site easier to use when I come on. Trying to allocate some time to get more familar with it. Take care! Susan

Just a quick thanks to all.

I don't think I will be visiting the new site too often, or it will take some serious time to get used to it. Either way I just wanted to thank all of you who made the past two years bearable for me and my family. Your sound advice and sense of humor was my saving grace. I want all of you to know that you helped, but I especially wanted to thank Cricket, LoisAnn, SusanOne and Dester. I know that if not for all of your support and answers to my many mood and sex questions I may not have made it through so far. I will try and adjust to the new boards but not having much spare time makes it hard. Once again thank you all so very much! Susan K

Hi back at cha, Kathy...

That is great that you've been able to lose that weight. You were getting pretty discouraged about it for a while there and hey hey...it worked. And who knows...by the time you go away this weekend you may have lost another lb or two...more power to you, lady.

I'm doing o.k. and the weight gain after being on those steroid meds is dropping a bit now...yay!

I worked the election yesterday as chairperson and that was a rough day. My leg and foot swell sooo badly when I'm doing a 17 hour day at one job. We got it done though. About 6 pm I'd had to report that our tabulator was one vote different than our poll book and we had to have someone come out to us to shut it down so we could restart it and had to reinput 500 ballots. All that while still having voters inputting their new votes also. It took over 3 hours to get it done and we were doing it constantly during that time. Oh well, that's past now 'til the presidential in November. I really am not looking forward to the mess that can be...but what the hay, we do what we believe we need to do, huh?

You have a great vacation with your relatives, lady. And you lost the weight so that can make you feel better about making the trip also.

Welcome Kathy. Glad you made it. You can go to the bottom of

the screen showing the various topics on these discussion boards and can 'jump' to the number 8 or 9 to see where our 'old' board titles are contained. I do check out various ones that we've never used before and can imagine that you and others will probably do the same.

It's great to see you online again. I hope your home and job are doing great by you.

Well done on the weight

Well done on the weight loss, that's a real achievement!

I do find these boards a nuisance in terms of their extreme slowness. I imagine that unless they can speed them up, I won't be here quite as often as one the old boards.

best,

Beautiful Cat pix, Chris.

Many of the posts are on the #'s 8 and 9 at the bottom of this screen. There are others sporadically spaced on other headings listed on the numbers between 1 and 9 though.

I also hope that things do even out for you.

Hope it gets better for you soon. Perimenopause can really be a marathon for some of us. Not to mention a roller coaster ride...

Hi Susan I am just coming

Hi Susan I am just coming back to the boards to see if I can get into them again, I miss posting but this just doesn't seem user friendly to me. Guess I need to give it a try and see if I can understand how to post the right way!!! LOL

Hope all is good?
