I'm in perimenopause, apparently. Why do my breasts hurt?
So, I have one ovary (since age 20), one of them had a cyst that ruptured. After that, as the body does adjust, I had my period every month, every 24-26 days without fail. (I was shocked to learn that many women, hearing I have one ovary, would ask/tell me: "So, you get your period every other month?")No! The body adjusts, the eggs just dropped from the one ovary, every single month.Anyway, now I am 47-years-old (I started my period at age 11). My periods began skipping for a month, or three months around December 2008. Then, my last cycle, after three months was in early October 2010.In late January 2011, with still no period, I figured, I finally hit menopause [which makes me happy, no more freaking periods]. My breasts have always been tender, my mammogram in early January 2011 showed some calcium deposits, etc. Then, the 2nd week in January, my nipples, really, began hurting as if my period was coming again. Lo and behold, I started my period again on February 1st.It was normal, etc. and ended around the regular time February 6th [I always had long periods]. But, now, February 14th, my nipples still hurt. What is going on? Is that normal in peri-menopause? Will they ever stop hurting? Or will this go on for three months or more, at a time?!
