Aggravated Mayhem Alleged In California Penis-Severing Case
A woman will face aggravated mayhem charges for allegedly cutting off her husband's penis with a 10-inch kitchen knife, reported the Los Angeles Times Wednesday.
Catherine Kieu Becker, 48, of Garden Grove, Calif. told police she drugged her husband's food, tied him to the bed, cut off his penis and tossed it into the garbage disposal. Police arrested her Monday after she called 911, setting her bail at $1 million.
Police charged Becker Monday with aggravated mayhem, which Statute 205 of the Californial criminal code defines as "intentionally caus[ing] permanent disability or disfigurement of another human being or depriv[ing] a human being of a limb, organ or member of his or her body." The charge carries a sentence of up to life in prison.
The Los Angeles Times reported the 51-year-old victim was in good condition at the University of California-Irvine Medical Center Wednesday after undergoing emergency surgery. He told reporters the attack was "a private matter."
Court records showed the couple, who had been married for a year and a half, initiated divorce proceedings in May, and have no children.
