Airline Pilots Sue Republic Airways

The Airline Pilots Association filed a lawsuit against Indianapolis-based Republic Airways Holdings, parent to Midwest Airlines, over job loss disputes and retiree health insurance coverage for furloughed pilots.

The long-running dispute dates back to 2008, when Republic provided $25 million to the financially struggling Midwest. Midwest was forced have some its 380 pilots take a leave of absence, and they filled the vacant positions with lower-paid Republic pilots. Republic then purchased Midwest last year and merged it into Frontier Airlines

The National Mediation Board agreed with the Midwest pilots earlier this month, saying they should be included in the merged seniority list of Republic, Frontier and Midwest.
