Aishwarya Rai and Husband Abhishek Bachchan Welcome Baby Girl
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the Bollywood star, and her actor husband Abhishek Bachchan have had a baby girl, her husband announced Wednesday.
"IT'S A GIRL!," Abhishek, also a top Indian actor, wrote on his Twitter account, @juniorbachchan, without disclosing any further details, Us Magazine reports.
Bachchan's father, Bollywood legend Amitabh, tweeted his joy at the new arrival: "A dada ji (a grandfather)...Ecstatic!", calling his new granddaughter "the cutest baby girl".
The proud grandfather added "As I travel back from the hospital I need to thank the media for keeping their word of not intruding our privacy. Deeply obliged!" reports Us Magazine.
Hospital officials said the baby was born at the private Seven Hills Hospital in the western Mumbai suburb of Andheri on Wednesday morning.
The baby girl is the first child for beautiful couple Rai, 38, and Bachchan, 35, who confirmed they were expecting in June, Us Magazine reports.
Crowned Miss World in 1994, Rai has starred in over 40 films, including such U.S. titles as Bride and Prejudice and Pink Panther.
L’Oreal spokesmodel Rai’s striking looks have often resulted in her being referred to as the "most beautiful woman in the world,” the Daily Mail reports.
Prior to starting her career as a model during the mid-90s, Rai studied architecture, before eventually abandoning her studies to appear in advertisements for Pepsi and gracing the cover of Vogue.
