Al Jarreau falls ill, hospitalized in France

Al Jarreau, a Grammy-winning American singer, reportedly fell ill in France on Thursday right before he was about to perform. He was experiencing breathing and heart problems.

He had to be taken to a hospital where he is in stable condition. The 70-year-old was initially in critical condition, but he improved on Friday. He is still in the intensive care unit and is not expected to leave at least until Sunday.

He was scheduled to sing in Barcelonette, a town in the French Alps. His tour includes performances in Germany, Austria, Azerbaijan, Japan, and the U.S.

Throughout his career, Jarreau has won 5 Grammy Awards, and is the only artist to have won them in Pop, Jazz, and R&B categories. He also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for recording. Before becoming a singer, he attained his Masters in Psychology and was a counselor.
