Amelia Earhart Rare Photos on Display in Hawaii

Amelia Earhart photos will show the famous female aviator in ways many have not pictured her before. An exhibit at The Royal Hawaiian hotel in Waikiki is hosting an exhibition of the rare photographs, showing Earhart on several visits to the islands throughout the 1930s. There are 65 photographs being shown at the exhibit, which opened on Saturday (Earharts 113th birthday) is scheduled to run until the end of the year.Lynn Krantz, the archivist at Matson Navigation Company which found the images, said, They bring her to life. Matson operated an ocean liner between California and Hawaii during the early 1900s, and built The Royal Hawaiian to give passengers a place to stay while in Hawaii.Photos show Earhart relaxing in a swimsuit underneath palm trees, enjoying the music of guitarists on a lanai, and many more. Some photos show her mere months before she had disappeared attempting to make history as the first woman to fly around the world.Kelly Hoen, the general manager of The Royal Hawaiian, encourages everyone, not just guests, to come to the hotel and enjoy the photos.
