Angelina Jolie, who once swapped vial of blood with ex-husband Billy Bob Thorton and infamously kissed her brother, is actually just a normal, great mother, according to Johnny Depp.
The Tourist actor says he wasnt sure what to expect from the mother of six because of the frequent fantastical portrayals of her and partner Brad Pitt in the media.
"I was immediately impressed by her. Well, not that I read much in the press about myself or even anyone, but you can't help but know that she and Brad are globally hounded and tracked down, the 47-year-old actor said.
What I was most impressed with Angelina first and foremost was her normality also, she's a great mommy."
And although Depp, who has two young children with his long-term partner Vanessa Paradis, did not know much about Angelina before they met, he knew he would be working with an actress with a versatile talent.
The only thing that sticks out in my mind is 'The Changeling' - her performance was magnificent, so I knew I'd be stepping into the ring with someone who was going to be deeply committed. But at the same time she understands the need for humour, the ability to travel outside of the script sometimes. She was a real sport in that sense."
Meanwhile, the 35-year-old actress said in an interview with the Daily Telegraph that her co-star was able to see a side of her that people often think doesnt exist.
"Sometimes people think of me as being darker, but Johnny has seen me with my kids, he's seen me on set giggling. Hopefully I'm a little softer and more female than I'm assumed to be.
Although The Tourist has received a mostly negative reception, its been nominated for three Golden Globes, including the Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy for Jolie.
