Conservative commentator Ann Coulter sent shock waves across the political arena Monday in her defense of Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain. According to Mediaite, Coulter appeared on Fox’s “Hannity” to defend Cain against his sexual harassment accusations, saying “our [conservative] blacks are so much better than their blacks.”
The controversial conservative didn’t regret her remarks, standing by her statement in an appearance with Joy Behar Tuesday. Behar quoted Coulter back to herself and asked her to clarify what she meant by the statement, saying “Are you saying all the African Americans who are Democrats are stupid?”
“No,” Coulter answered. “I’m saying Google Maxine Waters, Cynthia McKinney and John Conyers, or Google Allen West, Michael Steele or Herman Cain. Ours are more impressive. There is no question about that.”
Behar contradicted her, saying Coulter didn’t consider black liberals impressive because she disagreed with their ideologies. She also said that liberals didn’t “despise” conservative blacks,” citing her approval of Steele.
“When Michael Steele was running for Senate, liberals showed up and rolled Oreos down the aisle at him,” Coulter countered. “The only racism you hear is against conservative blacks, and it is vicious.”
Coulter also refused to consider President Barack Obama as a black liberal.
“Obama…is not a descendant of the blacks that suffered these Jim Crow laws,” she said, calling him the “son of a Kenyan” who didn’t go through the American experience.
