Apple Ping debuted this week, dubbed a new social network revolving around people's music choices."It's like Facebook and Twitter meet iTunes," Jobs said. "It's a social network all about music."According to Apple, Ping, the name for iTunes 10, incorporates security fixes for across site scripting, information leakage and memory corruption vulnerabilities."Behind the scenes, though, Apple quietly issued a security advisory suggesting another good reason to upgrade to the new player: a fix for some 13 known vulnerabilities in Webkit for Windows, a component of Apple's Safari Web browser and also of iTunes for Windows," reports Threat Post.Apple Ping is only a few days old, yet the new product is "drowning in scams and spams," security researchers say. The scams are nothing too advanced at the moment, experts say. Consumers are being advised to take caution as the system is ripe with bogus surveys promising free iPhones, iPads, and other assorted iDevices.Security firm Sophos advises all users to upgrade to iTunes 10 despite the wide number of scams you're likely to come across. If you find comment spam on Ping, you can report it by clicking on "Report" next to the "Show more comments/Hide comments" link on every Ping post.
