Need a quick jolt of memory? Maybe a swig of Memocafe, Memocola or Memote will get those brain cells stirring.
The Spanish pharmaceutical firm Covex won a silver medal at the Geneva, Switzerland, Exhibition of Inventions this month for three new drinks it claims provokes a "synergistic" increase in memory. While not yet approved for sale in the United States, the trademarked drinks have been patented in Spain.
Currently marketed in 35 countries, the Memo-drinks may help prevent cognitive degeneration that occurs in the elderly, a Covex spokesman says. The alkaloid-based products reportedly activate cerebral metabolism and improve the supply of oxygen and glucose to the brain.
The drinks are provided in a combination of caffeine, coffee, tea or cola drinks, and Covex is seeking partners interested in marketing the products worldwide.
