Too much sex? Too much violence? All too often a too-heavy mix of the two?
Americans and their children spend billions yearly for a night or afternoon at the movies. But is Hollywood sending the wrong message and should films once again be subject to censorship such as the Hayes Office provided for years?
Or is it, as the moviemakers claim, a matter of "free speech" and are films simply reflecting what's happening in American society and in the world at large?
The current ratings system -- G for General Audiences, PG for Parental Guidance, R for Restricted and N17 for No One Under 17 Admitted -- is under attack in local governments, in state legislatures and in Congress as too vague.
What's your view? Should the federal government or states take more action? Should it be left to "community standards? Or should parents exercise more control and tightly restrict what films children are allowed to attend?
