Deepak is downsizing his career and returning part-time to fine arts school. He has negotiated reduced, flexible hours and curbed his spending habits in order to make his dream a reality.
Avoid sad people. Stay away from negative people, and avoid complaining yourself. Like the "evil winds," negative words, thoughts and actions are tremendous energy robbers. If you can't beat them, leave them.
Surround yourself with motivating, inspiring, positive people instead, or grab a "virtual" mentor by adopting the habits of people you admire.
Freak yourself out. Set yourself a big, hairy, audacious goal. Nothing gets the adrenaline and dopamine levels soaring like setting out to achieve a goal that seems out of reach. It's a great boost for confidence and self-esteem, and will add years to your life.
Sarah hadn't been on a mountain bike in years. As she came across a fork in the path she was faced with the choice of taking the easy concrete path, or going off road, down a windy, steep, rocky track.
"I took the scary option. I didn't know if I could do it but I thought, "What the hell?"
"I was freaked out but pushing myself was way more satisfying."
So the lesson is to whip those "evil winds" into shape and harness their energy to dust off the cobwebs and revitalize the career and life.
