Quiz: Are You Warm or Cool?
Finding the most flattering shade of red lipstick is easier if you know whether your skin falls into the warm or cool category. If your skin falls in the warm category, you'll probably find orange-based reds more flattering. If your skin is cool-toned, blue-based reds will look best on you.

To determine whether your skin is warm or cool in color, check out these tips from www.hairboutique.com and the color experts at Clairol:

Say yes to four or more of the following, and you're warm:

  • My skin color is golden brown, warm peach, pale or yellow with freckles.

  • When I sit in the sun, I tan easily.

  • My hair is naturally strawberry blonde, golden blonde, brown, red auburn, or gray with yellow tones.

  • I prefer wearing cream and off-white colors.

  • I look better in gold.
Say yes to four or more of the following, and you're cool:
  • My skin color is porcelain, pinkish, rosy, ruddy brown, olive or dark ebony.

  • When I sit in the sun, I burn easily.

  • My hair is naturally ash blonde, light brown, deep brown, deep black, white or salt and pepper.

  • I prefer wearing pure snow-white

  • I look better in silver.
Tests for determining which colors look best on different skin tones also can be found online at www.neutrogena.com and www.covergirl.com.
