Ashton Kutcher is lashing out at Star magazine via Twitter and his legal team after it published a cover story claiming Kutcher cheated on his wife, Demi Moore.
"I think Star magazine calling me a "cheater" qualifies as defamation of character. I hope my lawyer agrees," Ashton tweeted on Wednesday.
"STAR magazine - you don't get to stand behind 'freedom of the press' when you are writing fiction," he added.
Demi stood by her husband, retweeting her husband and adding "No question!," in response to his defamation of character tweet.
"Excellent point my love!," Demi added.
Access Hollywood spoke with Kutcher's attorney, Marty Singer, who called the story an "absolute lie" and said they are "demanding Star issue a retraction and an apology."
If the magazine does not issue a retraction, Singer added "we will evaluate all of our legal options at that time."
When contacted by Access Hollywood, a spokesperson for Star said the magazine "stands by its story."
Star reported that an eyewitness saw Ashton "kissing and groping a hot young blonde by an out-of-the-way bathroom at Italian restaurant Madeo in L.A."
"Ashton had this gorgeous girl pinned against the wall, and he was totally making out with her," the source told Star. "I was shocked to see him sucking face with a girl who obviously wasn't Demi."
The couple will celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary on September 24.
