A bacon sundae with maple syrup is part of the current promotion at Dennys.
The sundae is part of a promotion that adds half a dozen bacon-themed additions to the menu. It includes the Maple Bacon Sundae, bacon meat loaf and bacon flapjacks. The promotion is even called Baconalia.
The sundae has vanilla ice cream, maple syrup, and a sprinkling of chopped bacon.
"The average American consumes more than 18 pounds of bacon per year, so Denny's decided to answer to the appetites of the nation and introduce a dedicated menu to the beauty that is bacon," said John Dillon, Denny's vice president of marketing and product development, said in a press release. "Denny's continually strives to meet the wants and needs of its customers, and with over 67 percent of Americans describing bacon as flavorful and satisfying, we're sure the Baconalia! menu will please all those crackling cravings."
Dennys has also launched a Facebook campaign in which fans can enter a contest for their chance to win a trip to Baconfest 2011 in Chicago April 9. The weeklong sweepstake begins today and ends April 4. Runners-up receive $100 gift certificates to Denny's.
