Black Friday Sales: The Countdown Begins

With less than a week until Black Friday, retailers are revealing their sales earlier than ever. For some retailers, such as Macy’s, Target, and Best Buy the shopping marathon will begin at midnight Thanksgiving night.

Executive Gerald Storch, Toys “R” Us Chief predicts this year’s Black Friday will have the biggest turnout. With many Americans struggling financially, more people are looking for ways to save money.

“In this economic climate, customers love deals. It’s going to be more important than ever,” Storch said, MarketWatch reports. “This will be the biggest Black Friday in history.”

According to a National Retail Federation survey conducted by BIGresearch, as many as 152 million people plan to shop Black Friday weekend, a 10% increase from last year’s figures.

In addition, 34% of shoppers said they plan to shop on the day of Black Friday, a 31% increase from last year, according to a survey taken by the International Council of Shopping Centers.
