Child Abuse & Molestation Charges Filed Against Boston Children's Hospital Pediatrician
Child abuse and molestation charges have been claimed in a lawsuit on behalf of several men against that a former pediatrician at Children's Hospital Boston. The suit claims that the doctor performed medically unnecessary genital examinations on them when they were children.
The medical malpractice and sexual abuse suit filed Thursday in Suffolk Superior Court alleges that Melvin Levine, while a doctor at the hospital from 1966 to 1985, inappropriately touched the children and that the hospital failed to properly supervise him.
Levine, who now lives in North Carolina, agreed two years ago to stop practicing medicine in any state after facing similar allegations there.
Children's Hospital said in a statement that it received one complaint against Levine while he worked there, which was dismissed. The hospital also denied any cover-up.
Levine did not immediately return a message. He has previously denied any wrongdoing.
