Chile Mine Rescue Update: Miners in "Very Good Health"

Chile mine rescue efforts continue and we learn today that rescuers have taken the final step before trying to extract 33 miners trapped underground for two months in Chile, an official said Sunday. Mining Minister Laurence Golborne said steel tubing has begun to be placed to reinforce the path that connects the miners to the surface, CNN reported.Three of the 15 or 16 tubes are already in place, he said. CNN said if the plan is successful the first of the miners could be pulled from the copper-gold mine by Wednesday. The miners have been trapped since Aug. 5, but are in "very good" health, Health Minister Jaime Manalich said, CNN reported.
