Christie Brinkley Says She'll Never Marry Again

Christie Brinkley (b. 1954) at the Good Morning America Times Square studio, NYC.
Christie Brinkley vows that she'll never marry again.

In a new interview with the UK newspaper The Telegraph, the former model opened up about her past marriages and why she'll never commit to another one again.

"I can now say unequivocally I would never get married again. There's absolutely no reason to. I learnt in my divorce that marriage is ridiculous. You take a vow but you don't get brownie points when you honor your vow and the other person doesn't," she said.

"The court doesn't recognize that. It's like, 'All right now, let's see how we're going to divvy up the kids.' Well, obviously, the one that didn't break the vows should be the role model. But no," she continued.

Brinkley's four marriages were to artist Jean-Francois Allaux, musician Billy Joel, real estate developer Richard Taubman and most recently to architect Peter Halsey Cook. Brinkley and Cook finalized their divorce in October of 2008.

Her most recent divorce got messy when Cook admitted to having an affair with his assistant, who was 18 years old at the time.

"I have to be careful in husbands. Unfortunately, I trust everybody. I just think everybody is great," Brinkley continued.

Brinkley told The Telegraph that she hasn't completely given up on love:

"You've gotta believe there are truly compassionate, kind, great people out there. Who also happen to be extremely funny. It's getting harder and I'm a little more wary but I look at my parents; they've been together for ever and are still madly in love."
